Mayor Herenton Announces Resignation
In what many consider the biggest political news story of the year, Mayor Herenton announced on Thursday June 25th, 2009, that he will end his nearly two-decade tenure as Mayor of the City of Memphis effective July 10th. Mayor Herenton will be replaced by City Council Chairman Myron Lowery until a special election is held later this year.

Terry Roland became the first candidate of the 2010 election process to address the East Shelby Republican Club. Roland, a candidate for Shelby County Commission, District 4, Seat 3, currently serves as the District 29 representatvie on the Tennessee Republican Party state executive committee.

On Tuesday night, Mr. Roland spoke aobut his desire to bring honesty, integrity, and common sense back to the Shelby County government, his campaign for county commission, as well as answering questions on a wide range of topics.
